Mental Health Services

The Institute for the Redesign of Learning’s Mental Health Department is a contract provider within the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Children’s System of Care. Funding sources include Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and/or County General Funds (CGF). The Institute’s Mental Health Services focus on the importance of meeting the client’s needs and empowering youth and their families to take charge of their own success. Services are available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese and cultural sensitivity is emphasized.

Our Mental Health Services include a full array of offerings for children, youth and adults 0-21 years of age and includes:

  • Individual, family and group counseling
  • Psychotropic medication support services
  • Case management
  • Substance abuse counseling
  • Intensive 24/7 Mental Health Services

Our program offerings include:

PREVENTION & EARLY INTERVENTION EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROGRAM (EBP): EBP’s Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Managing Adaptive Practices (MAP) trained therapists provide field based specialized mental health services with proven results for individuals age 3-21 years.

SCHOOL-SITE BASED OUTPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES: Includes individual, family and group substance abuse counseling; case management; crisis intervention and psychotropic medication support services. Please inquire for site locations.

SPECIALIZED FOSTER CARE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROGRAM (SFC): For foster youth in an out of home placement ages 0-21 years. Services aim to support youth in and out of home placement with mental health needs. Services are provided in-home, in-school and in the community.

CO-OCURRING DISORDERS COUNSELING PROGRAM FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE: Program includes individual, family and group counseling; case management; psychotropic medication services; and crisis intervention. Substance abuse counseling is available (as needed) in all TAC mental health programs.

TRANSITION AGE YOUTH PROGRAM (TAY): Mental Health and Case Management Services Program for teens and young adults age 16-21 years of age. Services aim at supporting young adults with mental health needs in order to successfully transition into adulthood. Services are provided in the community.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ASSESSMENT TEAM PROGRAM (MAT): This program offers Assessment and Field-based Mental Health Services for children/youth first entering the Foster Care System.

FULL-SERVICE PARTNERSHIP SERVICE AREAS 3 & 7 CHILDREN’S PROGRAM: Intensive Mental Health, Medication Support and Case Management Services Program for individuals age 0-15 years and their families. Services available 24 hours/7 aim to meet client and family need(s) that require an intensive level of care. Services are provided in-home, in-school and in the community.

FIELD CAPABLE CLINICAL SERVICES (FCCS) PROGRAM: Intensive field-based Mental Health Services Program for individuals age 2-21 years. Included services are individual and family therapy and medication support services where indicated. 24/7 phone support available.

About our staff:
Our professional and support staff meet California Behavioral Board of Science Licensing and pre-licensing requirements and includes Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Interns (MFTI), Clinical Social Worker Associates, Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Psychiatrists. Clinical Supervision is provided by Program Directors holding Doctoral or Master’s degrees in related mental health fields.
