Small class sizes with a rich instructor to student ratio. Class size is limited to twelve students with at least two, and possibly more, instructional experts with specialized training in ASD in each classroom.
Direct social skills instruction. All students participate in a social skills curriculum designed for the Almansor ASD Program, which provides structured interactions, modeling and role-playing opportunities, and encourages the development of essential social awareness and abilities.
Social skills awareness opportunities infused throughout the curriculum. A multi-tiered approach, both in content and structure, offers guided opportunities for practice and generalization of social skills.
Standards-based curriculum in full compliance with California Department of Education guidelines. The curriculum is individually tailored to support the learning styles and goals of students with ASD; the curriculum is both highly structured to provide a controlled and comforting routine, as well as highly flexible, to enable students with different abilities to succeed.
Assistive technology supported by experts from leading universities. The latest advances in connectivity, including a high-bandwidth network, specialized software, and video conferencing capabilities, provide the ability to facilitate our students' access to the world of technology and a technological interface to conventional learning materials.
An on-campus college/career/vocational lab. Offering guidance and essential assistance in planning for the transition to post-high school years, the lab provides college and career databases, aptitude and interest surveys, resume tools and school and job related linkages and software.
Our trademarked, Taking Charge™ behavior support system. Developed over the course of many years at Almansor, our behavior support program provides day-to-day consistency and individually tailored reinforcement protocols.
